You share information in an Iapplication by designating it as a publisher. A separate file, called an Hedition, is then created. You can place a copy of the edition, called a Msubscriber, in a document, even if the edition is on another disk or another GMacintosh on a network. As the information in the edition changes, all Q )subscribers receive updated information. Help on Publish and Subscribe OFor information on publishing and subscribing, click an item in the topic list -to the right, or click an active area below. TThe reate Publisher dialog box specifies the name of the edition file. XThe ubscribe To dialog box specifies the edition you want to subscribe to. _The ublisher Options and ubscriber Options dialog boxes control when ion Dan edition is updated and let you cancel a publisher or subscriber. Edit menu > Create Publisher Dialog box where you designate information as a publisher and specify the Ofilename of its edition. This dialog box opens when you select text to publish ist Iand then choose Create Publisher from the Edit menu. Published text in a h FrameMaker document is enclosed in brackets ( ) when Text Symbols turned on. 'You cannot publish a graphic or table. GIf you create a publisher, and then close your document without saving hen 5changes, the published edition file will be deleted. Preview /Displays a preview image of the selected text. Name of new edition (Specifies the name of the edition file. Edit menu > Subscribe To Dialog box where you subscribe to an edition. You can subscribe to editions Lcontaining text or graphics. If the graphic is in a format other than PICT, LEPSF, TIFF, or QuickTime movie format, FrameMaker tries to read the i graphic s preview image. NTo subscribe to an edition, choose the edition from the scroll list and click MSubscribe. You can also subscribe directly to a file that is not a published a edition. ^If you are subscribing to text, FrameMaker displays the Reading Text File Odialog box. The text subscriber appears at the insertion point. It is enclosed * Vbetween brackets ( ) if Text Symbols is turned on. You can format the text, but you cannot edit it. TIf you are subscribing to a graphic, FrameMaker places the subscriber in an sc Janchored frame at the insertion point or in a selected frame. You can use Dthe commands on the Graphics menu to edit a graphic subscriber; the or /changes remain when the subscriber is updated. Edit menu > Publisher/Subscriber Options Dialog box where you specify when to update an edition that you published. on. HYou can also use this dialog box to cancel a publisher. Send Editions &Indicates when to update the edition. 6On Save Updates the edition whenever you save the document. 5Manually Updates the edition only when you click Send Edition Now. 1Send Edition Now Updates the edition without b saving the document. Cancel Publisher 7Deletes the link to the edition, so subscribers can no s 2longer be updated. Canceling a publisher does not 'affect the edition or its subscribers. Edit menu > Publisher/Subscriber Options Dialog box where you specify when to update a subscriber in your i Hdocument. You can also use this dialog box to cancel a subscriber to an Kedition or to open the document containing the published information. This Edialog box opens when you select the subscriber in your document and i =then choose Publisher/Subscriber Options from the Edit menu. Subscriber to Lists the name of the edition.
